Joy on The Charles River
Jan 31, 2022
Air currents skip between buildings,
Tickling and teasing the Salt-and-Pepper Bridge
After 5 pm and a thirty-minute drive — am at the helm,
Hiked out for the thrill,
Well, trickster wind luffs the mainsail.
Trim the main and jib now,
Make a close reach to the basin’s middle.
Come about as needed, like no snoozers on weekend coastal runs.
The workaday heat lifts off,
The small stern almost jibes
And the heart gladdens — a jolt before tying off tonight,
While conjuring beamy tomorrows!
