Thanksgiving 2024

I am thankful for an active present tense
And much that has passed

For the books and paper and ink and output

I am thankful for friends
And for a love that has endured for more than 30 years

I am thankful for an aunt that deepened my life for a short time —
for our common interests and shared wavelengths

For songs that I deliver and for others that I deeply cherish

For a clear mind, steady hands, and good vision

For earth and the tree canopies and for a good shovel for all the transplanted gifts and store-bought purchases

Spring brilliance will follow and surprise us
