The Autocrat Pondered at the Automat

The autocrat ate a bologna sandwich at a Horn & Hardart automat when he was just seventeen

Passed an abundance of gas —

clearing the place —

And imagined a piled-high Big Mac

with drenched fries

That wouldn’t fit on the plate behind the window.
