The quiet overnight

Overnight

is just right

if the skinny dog

doesn’t bark at 2 am

And the electric heat

doesn’t quit

And the wind chime says hello just once or twice

And Cassiopeia overhead calms the restless

And we ease under covers into the freezing Christmas Eve
